Brodie Ellis

Blindside is proud to present Pulse & Pause, a new solo exhibition by Melbourne based artist Brodie Ellis. Paintings, sculpture, video and sound works will fill the entire gallery space in an installation that combines mediums to explore ones final moments of life.

Ellis creates installations that are deeply reasoned and finely intellectually parsed. Participating in the 17th Biennale of Sydney at Cockatoo Island in 2010 and ‘New 09’, Australian Centre for Contemporary Art, Melbourne in 2009, Ellis creates works that are meticulously and laboriously crafted according to her dictum of ethical economy where effort is transmuted into value. Pulse & Pause lingers, intensely and hyperchromatically, in memory. While Ellis’ work is not overtly confrontational, and is often extremely subtle, her methods directly entrain deep levels of psychological perception and can elicit strong emotions and correspondingly strong opinions.
