Session One: Approaches to Critical Arts Writing
Interested in developing or expanding your practice with critical arts writing – of your own work and the work of others? Join artist and writer, Lisa Radford, writer and curator, Amelia Winata and writer Zoe Theodore as they discuss their own experiences with critical writing in the arts, along with the challenges and opportunities present in this field.
Lisa Radford is an artist and writer who lectures at the Victorian College of the Arts, in 2016 West Space director Patrice Sharkey commissioned her to present Dear Masato, all at once across the entire space and with Brad Haylock and Surplus, co-published a collection of her essays titled Aesthetic nonsense makes common-sense, thanks x.
Amelia Winata is a Melbourne - based writer and curator, and is the current Sub-editor of un Magazine. She has written for numerous contemporary arts publications including Memo Review, Art Guide, Art Monthly Australia, Arts Broadsheet and Ocula, and was a 2015 recipient of the Gertrude Contemporary Emerging Writers Program.
Zoe Theodore is an independent writer, editor and producer. She is a graduate of The University of Melbourne and has held a range of professional roles at local and international art institutions, including MoMA PS1 and the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art.
